Rewriting Thomas and the Search for the Golden Staircase

I’m currently deep into rewriting Thomas and the Search for the Golden Staircase, which I plan to release in 2027. The very first draft of this story dates back to 2002, when I had just finished my debut novel The Library (a book that will remain unpublished).

Last year I picked Thomas back up and realised how many errors and rough edges were still on the page. The original was only ever a true first draft, and it needed a complete reimagining to reach its potential.

I’ve now worked my way through to the final chapter, and after rereading it I can clearly see how much better the story can be told. By the end of this week, I’ll be diving into the fourth draft—determined to make it the strongest version yet.

I may even use this blog to share my rewriting attempts.
